What to expect in a class

A typical class will begin with a little centring exercise where we turn our attention inwards,

release outside distractions and begin to focus on our breath.

We'll then start to add movement, warming the body up throughly before moving mindfully through some sequences that will build strength

and ease out tension. All postures are given as an invitation and I encourage you to only do what feels good for you on the day.

I always finish my classes with a guided meditation giving you the opportunity to relax fully and take a moment to bond with your baby and

appreciate all the hard work your body is doing.

  • Can You Do Yoga While in First Trimester of Pregnancy?

I recommend that you wait until 14 weeks gestation to ensure you are well out of the first trimester.

However, if you are used to doing yoga regularly and are happy and comforatble to take the decision for yourself to join a class sooner then that is completely up to you. It's important you feel comfortable and safe.

  • When Should I Start Pregnancy Yoga?

I recommend joining a class from 14 weeks to ensure you are well out of that first trimester and hopefully if youwere experiencing any sickness that is beginning to subside by this time and your energy levels will be rising again.

There is no point in pregnancy that is 'too late' to begin yoga classes. Whenever you decide to join it's important you feel comforatble and safe and listen to your body.

Pregnancy yoga prepares you mentally and physically for labour.

It builds strength and trains the areas of your body that will be helpful in supporitng you through labour as well as enabling you to practise relaxation techniques.

There have been studies that have shown women who attended pregnancy yoga during their pregnancy reported shorter labours than those who did not.

  • What Should I Wear In A Pregnancy Yoga Class?

Wear whatever makes you feel comforatble and can move your body in.

I always recommend layers as you can always take them off if you get too hot and it's good to have something to put on at the end of the class for the relaxation/meditation as you may get chilly.
